Aluminium drive pulleys

Low weight and high strength

We manufacture aluminum drive pulleys for machines where the ratio between low dead weight and high strength plays an important role.

The production of individual geometries according to specifications or drawings - including drilling patterns for flanges, couplings, brake discs or counterweights - is a matter of course for us.

From a lot size of 1 piece - for needs such as urgent spare parts, prototypes, pilot series models or small series or for drive pulleys made of aluminum that are produced according to your own customer specifications or drawings with the highest precision.

Optimal solutions for individual drives are developed in close cooperation with the customer. The execution in many common aluminum alloys, also with special properties, is possible.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

When is it advisable to use an aluminium drive pulley rather than one made of grey cast iron or steel?

Aluminium pulleys are the preferred choice when a low weight combined with sufficient strength is required – for example, in highly dynamic drives, mobile systems or applications involving frequent acceleration and braking cycles. The reduction in mass also helps to reduce the loads on bearings and the drive system.

What advantages does the low weight of aluminium pulleys offer in plant operation?

The reduced weight results in lower moments of inertia, which brings particular benefits when starting and braking the drive. This can reduce energy consumption, improve dynamics and reduce the load on shafts, bearings and couplings.

Can aluminium pulleys be manufactured to customer specifications based on drawings or CAD data?

Yes, production is carried out entirely in accordance with customer specifications – from one-off items to small batches. Geometries, bore patterns, hub shapes and belt profiles can be customised and adapted to existing drive systems.

What types of shaft-hub connections are possible with aluminium pulleys?

Depending on the application, cylindrical bores with or without keyways are available. In addition, designs for clamping sleeves, Taper-Lock systems or clamping hubs can be provided to ensure reliable and easy-to-install power transmission.

How are operational safety and concentricity ensured in aluminium pulleys?

The aluminium pulleys undergo mechanical finishing and can, on request, be manufactured to specific balance grades G16, G6.3 or G2.5 (e.g. in accordance with DIN 21940). This ensures smooth running, reduced oscillations and vibrations, and a long service life.
