Fly wheels and band wheels

We produce band wheels and fly wheels for machines that require high torques and large power development. Oscillating weights and torques are perfectly adapted to their respective drive situation.

Production of individual geometries according to specifications or drawings – including hole patterns for flanges, couplings, brake discs or counterweights – is routine course for us. All geometries can be easily produced thanks to a flexible, model-free moulding process.

Band wheels are produced with the highest precision from batch sizes 1 for urgently needed spare parts, prototypes, zero-series models or series according to individual requests or drawings.

In close cooperation with the customer we develop optimal solutions for individual drives. Implementation is also possible with alternative materials (EN-GJS, steel, aluminum, plastic etc.).

What details are required to manufacture a bespoke flywheel?

To ensure a precise fit, we generally require a technical drawing or a 3D model, as well as details of the material, outer diameter, bore, keyway, drilling patterns, balance grade and, where applicable, the required moment of inertia. We would also be happy to assist you with the design.

What materials are used in flywheels?

Depending on the application requirements, we use a variety of materials in the manufacture of our flywheels. As standard, we use grey cast iron, as it offers excellent machinability, cost-effective production and a high level of operational reliability.

Alternatively, we also manufacture flywheels from GGG 40 ductile cast iron, GGG 60 ductile cast iron and cast steel. The choice of the appropriate material depends on the specific technical and operational requirements of the application.

Can flywheels also be manufactured as single items or in small batches?

Yes. Thanks to our flexible, mouldless forming process, we can manufacture flywheels cost-effectively from as little as a single unit, with no moulding costs. This is particularly advantageous for spare parts, prototypes, retrofits or small production runs.

In which balance classes can flywheels be supplied?

As standard, we supply flywheels in accordance with DIN ISO 21940 with a balance grade of G16. Depending on the application and rotational speed, higher balance grades such as G6.3 or G2.5 are also available on request.

Is it possible to produce customised drilling patterns, coupling connections or special geometries?

Yes. We manufacture flywheels exactly to your drawings or design specifications. Customised bore patterns, flange connections, coupling mountings, brake disc mountings, keyways or special contours can be integrated directly into the manufacturing process and machined ready for installation.
